Challenging reductive narratives of the borderlands as simply a place of constant turmoil
Through the Community Snapshot series at the Nogales International, I’ve looked to capture everyday people in their “natural habitat.” Pictured here is Angel, a volunteer at the local animal shelter. The hope is that this series highlights people in our border community that we otherwise might never meet or hear about in the paper— offering us a glimpse into the everyday people that make Santa Cruz County home.
